Turning folding paper into a charity mailer.
The third instalment of Christmas films for Fox Agency in Leeds. After last years film with a more traditional 2D feel, and the 3D Gingerbread man love story from 2019, Fox approached us to work with them with a creative centred around folding paper.
This years film launched a charity appeal that Bobst were running for “Volunteers Together” primarily helping Lebanese people struggling against poverty. Fox had devised a general storyline and we developed this further, looking at the types of work the charity do and building the narrative around this.
From the very beginning everyone was completely on-board with our vision and our concept for the animation. The team developed the concept and added ideas and suggestions throughout, keeping us updated when needed and delivering on tight timescales. The level of craft and creativity was fantastic and really did allow us to deliver a final piece which we, and the client, were thrilled with. A great experience throughout - cheers

A large part of this project was the final frame where the hands appear. This image was also to be used as a printed card that would be sent out to advertise the film. Fox wanted us to help them develop this in a way that would work in both animation and print. The original idea was the red stream through the film would build the hands at the end. It took many different designs to get this right, and after some failed bandage looking designs, we reached a conclusion that worked for both uses. The hands would be closer to the characters in the films, the ribbon wrapping around them.
Once we had the hands signed off, these were sent to print whilst we continued with the rest of the production. A team of 3 x 3D animators working on developing the paper folding techniques.
Final touches as ever from Nick at Ideosound for the sound design.
