_Stop Motion Animation, Production & Delivery.

Producing a TV campaign, in a fortnight, during lockdown. Why not.

BGN approached us to help bring the Red Fox Cheese from their client, Belton Farm, to life. They had proposed a number of campaign ideas; the selected idea had a tongue in cheek feel, so stop frame animation seemed to fit perfectly. The slight problem was we were all in lockdown and with social distancing enforced we couldn’t do the usual studio shoot. Step forward our main animator, Dan. A studio was hastily assembled in his cellar as he awaited a huge delivery of cheese. As you can see on the image below, it’s all glamour in our industry.

We have been working on this brand in a static format for the past few years and it’s amazing to finally see our fox animated and on TV for the first time. From the initial discussion our the idea and presentation of storyboards, the ideas that Jonny and the team brought to the table were great and both ourselves and Belton Farm are delighted with the end product. Especially given the incredibly tight timescales we were all working to.

The stop frame element was combined with traditional frame by frame 2D animation for the Fox. The packshot modelled in 3D so we could match it up seamlessly with the animation that preceded it.

Once again once the animation was close to finish it was over to Nick at Ideosound. to put the effects and music over the top.

As well as the creative production we were working to an extremely tight turnaround to get this on air. Part of our production process includes getting Ads cleared and delivered to stations. With sign off coming just over 72 hours before delivery it was important that we could rely on our production systems, and Grace’s experience to get this delivered on time.
